About Plan a Safari
Plan a Safari is a Kenya and African safari travel site built around our own three-week safari in Kenya.
Who we are
I'm Scott. I went to Kenya on my honeymoon with my wife and my father-in-law, who had been on safari before and stayed in touch with his guide, Polycarp. Over three weeks we traveled through Laikipia, Lake Nakuru, the Maasai Mara and Tsavo, visited Maasai and Samburu villages, and took close to 2,000 photos. This site started as a way to share that trip and has grown into a planning resource for anyone thinking about their own safari.
What you'll find here
- Our trip story and photo album, all photos our own
- Kenya safari guides on timing, costs, the Kenya eTA, packing and wildlife
- The blog, with new posts on wildlife, culture and planning
- Safari planning resources and safari gear pages that compare specialists, tour marketplaces and retailers
How we write
We check time-sensitive facts such as park fees, visa rules and prices against current official or industry sources and note when information was last updated. We don't accept payment for coverage, and we don't publish reviews or ratings we haven't earned.
